Markus Varjun and Kevin Christopher Jegers have become the first Estonian golfers to qualify for the weekend rounds of a HotelPlanner Tour event, ERR reported. The milestone came at the Infortar Estonian Challenge in Jõelähtme.
The third day of the tournament will be broadcast live on ETV2 from 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The Infortar Estonian Challenge is the first HotelPlanner Tour event held in Estonia. The tournament brings together 156 players from around the world at the Sea Course golf course in Jõelähtme, who are competing for prize money and the chance to progress to the DP World Tour.
The top 20 players in the HotelPlanner Tour season earn promotion to the European circuit, where several well-known golfers, including major tournament winners and Ryder Cup players, have begun their careers.
The tournament is being held in Estonia under a three-year cooperation agreement between the Estonian Golf Association and the European Tour Group. It is the first of three HotelPlanner Tour events scheduled to take place in Estonia.
