Nuudi knocks out top seed to reach ITF W15 semifinal

Estonian tennis player Maileen Nuudi, ranked 1,143rd by the WTA, reached the semifinals of the ITF W15 tournament in Savitaipale by defeating top seed Valentini Grammatikopoulou of Greece, ERR reported.

Nuudi won Friday’s quarterfinal 6-3, 0-6, 6-3 against Grammatikopoulou, who is ranked 557th in the world. The match lasted one hour and 56 minutes.

Nuudi will face fourth seed Elza Tomas of Latvia, ranked 730th, in the semifinals. Tomas defeated eighth seed Beatrice Stagno of Italy 6-3, 6-4.

Andrea Roots, who had also reached the doubles semifinals at the same tournament, and her Romanian partner Alexia Lavinia Puiac lost 6-3, 6-0 to Alice Soulie of France and Ema Kovacevic of Belgium.
