Talviku to make factory team debut in motocross world championship

Estonian motocross rider Jörgen-Matthias Talviku will make his debut as a factory team rider at this weekend’s World Championship round in Lommel, ERR reported.

Talviku will represent Fantic Factory Racing after the team’s rider Alberto Forato was injured in a starting crash at the World Championship round in Britain in mid-July. The team manager contacted Talviku before the next round.

“I was already asleep at the time because we were due to go training with Tanel Leok early on Sunday. In the morning, I went for a run and saw that I had received this call. Jacky does not call for no reason,” Talviku recalled.

“I saw that their rider had not competed in qualifying, and the factory team called me on Monday. We finalised all the agreements, then spent half a day packing and dealing with everything that came with it. Early on Tuesday morning, I was already on the road towards Belgium.”

The opportunity to join one of the world’s strongest motocross teams fulfils a dream for Talviku. His main aim for the round is to enjoy the experience.

“The goal in Lommel is first and foremost to do my own thing fully, because this is my first race with a new bike and a new team. There will certainly be a lot that is new to me, and I have to adapt relatively quickly. The training days have gone well and the bike feels good. If I can do my own thing and enjoy it, it is also possible to achieve very good results,” Talviku said.

At the Lommel World Championship round, the main class will have free practice, time practice and a qualifying race on Saturday. Sunday’s programme includes a warm-up and two races.
