Latvia-Belarus border closed for technical reasons

Latvia’s border with Belarus has been closed for technical reasons, Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava said, according to LSM.

“We call on those who have not yet returned to Latvia to use other routes,” Dombrava said in social media posts.

On Thursday, Dombrava urged Latvian residents to abandon plans to travel to Belarus or return from the country. He said safe movement between the two countries could become difficult amid what he described as Belarus’s hybrid migration war.
