Police in Lithuania have discovered around three tonnes of mash suspected to be intended for homemade moonshine production on a farm in Telšiai district, LRT reports.

According to the Klaipėda County Chief Police Commissariat, officers working with environmental protection specialists found approximately 40 litres of liquid emitting a distinct odour characteristic of moonshine, along with 2–3 tonnes of mash, believed to be for moonshine production. The discovery was made late on Thursday night, around 00:30, in Drobūkščiai village.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the alleged illegal production, storage, transportation, or sale of homemade strong alcoholic beverages, undenatured or denatured ethyl alcohol, or their solutions and mixtures.
