Police report over €60,000 in fraud cases in two days

Lithuanian police reported three major fraud cases over the past two days, with victims losing more than €60,000 in total, according to a statement released on Thursday.

The largest incident occurred in early July, when an unidentified Russian-speaking caller, posing as a bank employee and police officer, defrauded a 89-year-old Vilnius resident of €31,000.

In a separate case, a 66-year-old Vilnius man lost €13,200 after being contacted by a Lithuanian-speaking scammer. Additionally, a 55-year-old man in Panevėžys lost €16,500 in April after paying for a car he never received.
