Investigation into stolen Registry Centre data continues due to exceptionally large scale

The Lithuanian Prosecutor General’s Office has confirmed that a pre-trial investigation into the theft of 600,000 real estate registry records is ongoing, with the scope of the case described as exceptionally large, LRT.lt reports.

The investigation was launched on May 22 following reports of unauthorised access to state information systems and related cybercrimes. Authorities suspect that more than 600,000 registry entries may have been illegally copied.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, all necessary procedural steps are being carried out, including witness interviews, document collection, data analysis, and site inspections. The office noted that evaluating the vast amount of data requires specialised knowledge and time.

“The volume of data under investigation is exceptionally large, and its assessment demands expertise and time. While we cannot disclose further details at this stage, we understand the public significance of this case and will share both interim and final results as soon as possible,” the office stated.

Earlier statements from the Prosecutor General’s Office indicated that the primary target of the criminal activity was data from the Real Estate and Legal Entities Registries, which are provided as a paid service to interested parties under established procedures.
