Prosecutors refer case of large-scale cocaine and cannabis possession to court

Lithuanian prosecutors have referred a criminal case to the Plungė branch of the Klaipėda Regional Court involving two men accused of large-scale drug offences, LRT reports.

According to the prosecution, a 31-year-old resident of Skuodas and a 30-year-old resident of Kretinga face charges of unlawful possession of narcotic substances. One man is suspected of acquiring drugs with the intent to distribute them, while the other possessed significant quantities.

The investigation began in August 2025 after police stopped a BMW car. The driver, the 31-year-old, aroused suspicion due to his behaviour. A preliminary search revealed bags containing cannabis and cocaine in his clothing.

It was later established that on the same day in Kretinga, the man had purchased more than 11 grams of cocaine and at least 9.5 grams of cannabis from the second suspect for €1,300. He transported the drugs to Skuodas district, where police seized them.

Further investigation revealed that the 30-year-old from Kretinga had acquired at least 41 grams of cocaine and around 40 grams of cannabis from an unidentified person. He allegedly sold part of these drugs to the Skuodas resident, while the remainder was found and confiscated by police during searches of his car and home.

The 31-year-old faces charges under Article 260(1) of the Criminal Code, carrying a potential prison sentence of 2 to 8 years. The 30-year-old is charged under Article 260(2), with a possible sentence of 8 to 10 years.
