Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service (VSAT) reported on Saturday that two illegal migrants were turned away at the border with Belarus over the past day.

Latvian border guards intercepted 34 migrants on Friday, while Poland recorded no attempts to cross its border illegally on Thursday, according to the Baltic News Service (BNS).

Latvia has faced increasing migratory pressure from Belarus recently. Interior Ministry data shows that secondary migration flows from Latvia to Lithuania rose from around 300 to over 1,200 detections in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.

So far this year, Lithuania has denied entry to 909 illegal migrants. In 2025, there were over 1,600 recorded attempts to enter the country illegally from Belarus, compared to 1,002 in 2024. Since the start of the migration crisis instigated by Belarus, Lithuanian border guards have prevented more than 25,500 illegal entries.

The influx of migrants into the eastern EU states via Belarus began in 2021, with Western countries accusing the Minsk regime of orchestrating it.
