Prosecutors launch pre-trial investigation into calls for violent action against Lithuania’s sovereignty

Lithuania’s Prosecutor General’s Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into a post published on a Facebook page that allegedly incites violence to undermine the country’s sovereignty, LRT reports.

The post, published on July 1 in both Lithuanian and Russian on the page “Celofano mobingas,” includes a video in which an unidentified individual claims in Russian that Russia is preparing lists of military targets in the Baltic states for potential strikes. The text also suggests this is part of broader preparations for a full-scale military campaign against the Baltic countries.

In Lithuanian, the post states: “At the same time, we are starting to compile a list of people whom Russia could deport from Lithuania.” The Russian version adds: “We will repay you—not with thanks, but with a wagon of beef and pork for each head.” The post also includes a list of 66 well-known Lithuanian citizens, providing their full names.

Preliminary findings suggest the public post may contain elements of criminal activity. The investigation will gather additional evidence for further assessment.

The Prosecutor General’s Office’s Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Department is leading the pre-trial investigation, with the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau tasked with conducting the probe.
