Case of former officer accused of drug possession and trafficking sent to court

Lithuanian prosecutors have sent a criminal case to Klaipėda Regional Court involving a former officer from the Klaipėda County Chief Police Commissariat, accused of unlawfully possessing and transporting large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances, LRT reports.

The suspect allegedly held and transported significant amounts of 3-chlormethcathinone (3-CMC), MDMA, 4-bromomethcathinone (4-BMC), and cannabis in a car in Klaipėda District on May 9, 2025. Police discovered and seized the substances during a vehicle search.

Additionally, on the same evening, the suspect is believed to have unlawfully possessed powder containing 3-CMC in another car parked in Kretinga. This substance was found and confiscated on May 10, 2025, following a police search.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Police Department’s Immunity Board, overseen by a prosecutor from the Organised Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Klaipėda Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Under Lithuania’s Criminal Code, the unauthorised production, processing, acquisition, possession, transport, dispatch, sale, or distribution of large quantities of narcotic or psychotropic substances can result in a prison sentence of 10 to 15 years.
