Two men detained in Šiauliai over attempted murder

Šiaulių apskrities policija (Šiauliai County Police) has detained two men suspected of attempted murder, the authority reported on Thursday.

On Wednesday at around 12:20 PM, a 36-year-old man was injured and his BMW X6 car was damaged in a shooting on Vairo Street in Šiauliai. The victim received medical assistance and is currently undergoing outpatient treatment.

Initially, the incident was classified as a public order violation. However, during the pre-trial investigation, evidence emerged suggesting an attempt on the victim’s life while he was inside the vehicle. The case was reclassified as attempted murder.

On the same day, at around 7 PM, police arrested two suspects, born in 1990 and 1985, in Jonava. The prosecution intends to request the court to impose the strictest preventive measure—detention—on the suspects. Further procedural actions are underway to establish all circumstances of the incident.
