Scammers defraud two Lithuanian residents of €97,400
Two Lithuanian residents have been defrauded of a total of €97,400 in separate scams, according to a report by the Police Department, as cited by LRT.
A 75-year-old woman in Šiauliai reported that after clicking a link received on her mobile phone regarding a product for sale, unknown individuals stole €16,084 from her bank account on Saturday.
In a separate incident, a 58-year-old woman in Kaunas reported that between July 3 and July 14, unknown Russian-speaking individuals, posing as Google and bank employees as well as police officers, defrauded her of €81,400.
Two suspects, born in 1988 and 2001, have been placed in custody. Police have launched pre-trial investigations in both cases.
