New poll shows TS-LKD and LSDP remain Lithuania’s most popular parties
A new public opinion poll conducted by the market and public opinion research company Baltijos tyrimai on behalf of ELTA shows that the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD) has overtaken the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) to become the most popular party in Lithuania.
The survey, carried out between June 19 and 30, 2026, found that 12.5% of respondents would vote for TS-LKD, up from 12.3% in May. The LSDP, previously in the lead, saw its support drop slightly to 12.1%, down from 13%.
The poll also revealed significant changes in the approval ratings of several public figures. Virginijus Sinkevičius, leader of the Democratic Union “For Lithuania,” saw the largest increase, with his approval rating rising by 11 percentage points to 49%. Other notable gains included Vytautas Sinica (from 32% to 40%) and new Energy Minister Lukas Savickas (from 31% to 39%).
Approval ratings also improved for Valius Ąžuolas (from 41% to 46%), Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys (from 40% to 45%), public figure Andrius Tapinas (from 42% to 46%), journalist Edmundas Jakilaitis (from 41% to 45%), and Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas (from 28% to 31%).
In contrast, the most unfavorable ratings were given to Saulius Skvernelis (81% disapproval), Vytautas Landsbergis (66%), former Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė (59%), Remigijus Žemaitaitis of “Nemuno aušra” (55%), former Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė (54%), Speaker of the Seimas Juozas Olekas (52%), and TS-LKD leader Laurynas Kasčiūnas (52%).
Other parties polled include “Nemuno aušra” with 10.5% support (up from 9%), the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union with 10.2% (down from 10.5%), the Liberal Movement with 6.9% (down from 7.6%), and the Democratic Union “For Lithuania” with 6% (up from 3.8%).
Rasa Ališauskienė, director of Baltijos tyrimai, noted that the Democratic Union’s rise in the polls may be linked to changes in the ruling coalition and a move away from previous leadership issues.
