Man charged with fatal stabbing in Alytus district
A 41-year-old resident of Alytus district has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing incident, the prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday, citing LRT.
The case has been transferred to Kaunas Regional Court. According to the investigation, the incident occurred during a drinking gathering at a house in Alytus district on the evening of December 10 last year. A conflict arose between two men, and the suspect allegedly stabbed the homeowner multiple times with a knife, injuring him in various parts of the body.
The victim died in hospital a few days later. Forensic examination revealed at least five stab wounds to the face, neck, shoulder, thigh, abdomen, and chest area.
The suspect is currently in custody. Under Lithuania’s Criminal Code, the charge of murder carries a prison sentence of seven to 15 years.
