Summer temperatures to return with highs of 28°C
Lithuania is set for a return to summer-like weather this week, with temperatures climbing as high as 28°C, according to Teresė Kaunienė, a forecaster at the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service, as reported by LRT.
Kaunienė said a distant western cyclone will influence the country’s weather in the coming days, bringing cloudy skies overnight from Monday to Tuesday. “Tonight, Lithuania will see variable cloud cover, with possible light rain in some areas in the evening. The chance of rain will decrease later, but fog may form in places after midnight,” she said.
Temperatures overnight will range between 12–17°C, with a light northwesterly wind, stronger along the coast. Tuesday will remain mostly cloudy, with scattered showers and possible thunderstorms, particularly in the northern and eastern regions. Daytime temperatures will reach 22–27°C.
From Wednesday, conditions will shift as Lithuania falls under the eastern part of an anticyclone, reducing rainfall. Nights will be mostly clear and dry, while days will see variable cloud cover, with brief, light rain possible in the south after noon. Temperatures will stay between 22–27°C.
Thursday will bring little change, with clear, calm nights cooling to 11–16°C. Daytime will be sunny and dry in the southwest, though the northeast may see some cloud cover and light rain in the evening. Winds will be moderate, northerly to northwesterly, with temperatures rising to 23–28°C.
High pressure will dominate as the weekend approaches. Friday night will remain calm and dry, with temperatures between 12–17°C. Daytime will see increasing humidity, with cumulus clouds forming and bringing short summer showers and possible thunderstorms in places. Temperatures will again reach 23–28°C.
An Atlantic cyclone will affect Lithuania on Saturday, bringing more widespread rain and strengthening winds. “Short showers and thunderstorms are expected in many areas both overnight and during the day. Winds will shift from southeast at night (6–11 m/s) to south and southwest during the day, strengthening to 8–13 m/s, with gusts possible along the coast,” Kaunienė noted. Overnight temperatures will range from 14–19°C, while daytime highs will reach 21–26°C, with some eastern areas hitting 28°C.
Sunday will see less rain but remain windier and slightly cooler, the forecaster added.
