Sinkevičius to use Turniškės residence occasionally but not relocate family

Designated Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius will not move his family to the official Turniškės residence but may stay there occasionally, he told the 15min news portal.

Sinkevičius said his life and home remain in Jonava, and he does not want to disrupt his children’s routines—one starting first grade, the other preschool—nor his wife’s work in Kaunas.

“My commitment and service to the state bring certain logistical and other aspects, and that is my responsibility. I don’t want to uproot my family or change their lives,” he said.

While his family has no wish to move to Vilnius, Sinkevičius acknowledged he may need to stay overnight at the state-provided residence when circumstances require it.

Lithuanian law mandates round-the-clock protection for the prime minister, with the Turniškės residence allocated for official use. Previous leaders have varied in their approach: some, like Inga Ruginienė and Gintautas Paluckas, moved in with their families, while Saulius Skvernelis declined to live there.
