Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service (VSAT) reported on Thursday that its officers turned back 13 illegal migrants at the border with Belarus over the past day.

Latvian border guards repelled 71 migrants on Wednesday, while Polish authorities recorded eight attempts to cross the border illegally on Tuesday.

This year, Lithuania has denied entry to 901 illegal migrants. In 2025, there were over 1,600 recorded attempts to enter the country from Belarus at unauthorized locations, compared to 1,002 in 2024.

Since the start of the migration crisis instigated by Belarus, Lithuanian border guards have prevented more than 25,500 foreigners from entering the country illegally. The influx of migrants into the EU’s eastern member states via Belarus began in 2021, with Western nations accusing Minsk of orchestrating the crisis.
