NATO air policing mission in the Baltics to transition to air defence
NATO’s air policing mission in the Baltic states will be reclassified as an air defence mission, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda confirmed on Tuesday, as reported by the BNS news agency.
Speaking from Ankara, where a NATO summit is underway, Nausėda described the change as a key outcome of the meeting. “One of the most important results of this summit is that the NATO air policing mission is being reclassified as a NATO air defence mission. This will significantly enhance Lithuania’s air defence capabilities,” he said.
