Lithuania receives anti-tank missiles worth over €3 million

Lithuania’s armed forces have taken delivery of a new batch of anti-tank missiles worth more than €3 million, the country’s Ministry of National Defence announced on Tuesday, as reported by the BNS news agency.

This is at least the fourth shipment of such missiles received by the Lithuanian military since August 2025. To date, the armed forces have acquired Spike LR2 missiles worth at least €11.5 million, with plans to purchase more.

“We will additionally acquire more Spike LR2 missiles—the Lithuanian armed forces must be maximally prepared and equipped with modern weaponry,” Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas was quoted as saying.

According to Kaunas, the military continues to strengthen its capabilities, with investments in ammunition reserves aimed at deterring Russia and ensuring peace in the country.

The Spike LR2 is a rapid-response, high-firepower anti-tank missile system designed to destroy tanks, armoured vehicles, engineering structures, and other high-value targets. In Lithuania, these missiles are integrated into Vilkas infantry fighting vehicles, enhancing their firepower and long-range engagement capabilities.

The 2026 defence budget allocates €2 billion for the procurement of armaments and military equipment. Overall, Lithuania has earmarked 5.38% of its GDP for national defence this year.
