Two-year-old boy falls from fourth-floor window in Šiauliai

A two-year-old boy was hospitalised after falling from a fourth-floor window in Šiauliai on Monday evening, LRT.lt reports.
The incident occurred around 22:45 in a residential building on Ežero Street in central Šiauliai. Emergency services were initially alerted by a caller reporting an explosion and smoke, but upon arrival, responders found the unconscious child on the ground outside.
The boy, born in 2024, was first taken to Šiauliai Hospital at 23:00 before being transferred to Kaunas Hospital for further treatment. Preliminary information suggests he may have been briefly left unattended.
Police confirmed the child’s father was present at the scene but declined to comment. Authorities have launched an investigation into potential neglect of parental or guardian duties.
The child’s condition remains serious.
