Scammers trick two people out of over €13,000 in Vilnius region
Scammers have defrauded two people of more than €13,000 in Vilnius and the Vilnius district, according to the Vilnius County Chief Police Commissariat.
A 74-year-old man reported on June 27 that on June 22, a Russian-speaking woman called his home, posing as a telecommunications company employee. She convinced him to hand over €700 and a bank payment card, which was then used to withdraw an additional €5,600, resulting in a total loss of €8,300.
On the same day, a 77-year-old woman reported that unknown individuals called her home, pretending to be tax inspection employees. They deceived her into giving €5,000 to an unknown person who arrived at her residence.
Pre-trial investigations have been launched in both cases.
