Lithuanian border guards turned back nine illegal migrants at the border with Belarus over the past day, the State Border Guard Service (VSAT) reported on Saturday.

According to the service, Latvian border guards repelled 58 migrants on Friday, while Polish authorities recorded no attempts to enter the country illegally on Thursday.

This year, Lithuania has denied entry to 858 illegal migrants. In 2025, there were over 1,600 recorded attempts to cross the border illegally from Belarus, compared to 1,002 in 2024.

Since the start of the migration crisis instigated by Belarus, Lithuanian border guards have prevented more than 25,000 foreigners from entering the country illegally. The influx of migrants to the EU’s eastern members via Belarus began in 2021, with Western officials accusing Minsk of orchestrating the crisis.
