Lithuania to face extreme heat with temperatures reaching 37°C
Temperatures in Lithuania will soar this weekend, with highs of 35°C expected in some areas, followed by a rare 37°C heatwave on Monday, according to Paulius Starkus, a synoptist at the Hydrometeorological Service, cited by LRT RADIJAS and LRT.lt.
On Friday, weak northwesterly winds will bring a mix of sun and clouds, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C, peaking in the southwest. Saturday night will remain clear and dry, with lows of 12–17°C. Daytime temperatures will climb to 28–33°C, slightly cooler along the coast.
Sunday will see a tropical air mass settle over the country, with clear skies and temperatures reaching 30–35°C inland, slightly milder near the sea. Monday is forecast to be exceptionally hot, with overnight lows of 17–22°C and daytime highs of 32–37°C. However, the afternoon may bring brief thunderstorms, heavy rain, and hail in some areas.
Relief is expected by Tuesday, with temperatures dropping slightly, though still exceeding 30°C in places.
