Weather forecast: warm summer conditions all week with possible showers
Lithuania will experience warm summer weather throughout the coming week, though brief showers and occasional thunderstorms are possible, according to a forecast by Teresė Kaunienė, a meteorologist at the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service (LHMT).
The week begins under the influence of the cooler, eastern part of an anticyclone. Monday night will be mostly clear and dry, with light winds and temperatures ranging from 10–15°C, cooler in the northeastern regions. Tuesday will bring partly cloudy skies, with more clouds in the eastern part of the country. While no significant rainfall is expected, light rain may occur in the Aukštaitija region. Winds will be northwesterly at 5–10 m/s, with daytime highs of 22–25°C, reaching up to 27°C in some areas, but around 20°C in the Curonian Spit.
Tuesday night will be starry and dry, with winds nearly calm. Temperatures will drop to 10–15°C, warmest along the coast. On Wednesday, increasing cloud cover is expected due to an atmospheric front moving from the north, particularly in the northern half of the country. Short, light rain showers are possible, with westerly winds of 6–11 m/s. Daytime temperatures will range from 21–26°C inland and 18–20°C on the coast.
Wednesday night will be partly cloudy with a low chance of rain, and light westerly winds will persist. Temperatures will fall to 11–16°C, with around 17°C in the Curonian Spit. On Thursday, a small cyclone will affect Lithuania, bringing unstable cloud cover and short rain showers, with thunderstorms in some areas. Westerly winds will strengthen to 6–11 m/s, with gusts up to 14 m/s during storms. Daytime temperatures will rise to 22–27°C, and 19–21°C on the coast.
The weekend will remain warm, with a high-pressure system bringing very warm conditions. Although light rain may linger into Friday night, no further precipitation is expected. Winds will be light at night and moderate during the day. Temperatures will continue to rise, with Sunday expected to be particularly hot.
