2027 elections, Klaipėda, LVŽS

The Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS) has nominated maritime captain Romas Karmazinas as its candidate for mayor of Klaipėda in the 2027 municipal elections, as confirmed by the party’s Klaipėda branch and announced by LVŽS election headquarters chief Ligita Girskienė.

Karmazinas, a professional sea captain with long-standing experience, is described as deeply familiar with Klaipėda’s unique challenges as a port city and Lithuania’s economic gateway. His campaign will focus on responsible municipal governance, sustainable development, and improving quality of life for residents, with a particular emphasis on attracting young people to the city.

In a statement, Karmazinas said Klaipėda has the potential to become the most modern port city in the Baltic region, balancing the development of its port, business, culture, and residential environment. He stressed the need for a long-term strategy, open dialogue with the community, and decisions prioritising people’s needs.

Key campaign priorities include expanding urban infrastructure, renovating residential districts, ensuring a safe and clean environment, improving public services, attracting young families, strengthening culture and education, and enhancing the competitiveness of the maritime economy. Karmazinas advocates for a clear long-term vision to ensure balanced growth, efficient use of public funds, and closer cooperation with local communities, NGOs, and businesses.

Municipal council and mayoral elections in Lithuania are scheduled for spring 2027.
