Court sentences Šiauliai man to 10 years in prison for drug possession
A court in Šiauliai has sentenced a local man to 10 years in prison for the possession of narcotic substances, the Prosecutor’s Office reported on Thursday.
The Šiauliai Regional Court also ordered the confiscation of nearly €15,000 and a car obtained from criminal activities.
According to case documents, the man illegally acquired more than 1.2 kilograms of cocaine in December 2024. Part of the drugs were stored in a rented apartment, while the rest were kept at his workplace. The defendant claimed the cocaine was brought from abroad with the intention to sell.
During the same period, the man purchased a small amount of cannabis via a social media app without the intent to distribute. These drugs were found during a search of his apartment and car.
The Prosecutor’s Office stated that the convicted man is currently under a precautionary measure—intensive supervision—until the execution of the court’s ruling begins. The verdict can be appealed to the Lithuanian Court of Appeals within 20 days.
