Scammers trick woman out of €107,300 in Vilnius
Russian-speaking scammers deceived a woman in Vilnius into handing over €107,300 in cash to a stranger who visited her home, LRT reports.
The woman, born in 1960, filed a report with the Vilnius County Chief Police Commissariat on Tuesday. She stated that between June 3 and June 9, unknown individuals called her at home, speaking in Russian. They posed as medical staff, bank employees, and police officers, convincing her to part with a large sum of money.
The victim then gave the cash to an unknown man who arrived at her residence. Authorities have launched a pre-trial investigation into large-scale fraud.
