Social Democratic Party leader Mindaugas Sinkevičius has confirmed that the Democrats’ Union “For Lithuania” will receive three ministries—Agriculture, Energy, and Health—as part of ongoing coalition negotiations, LRT reports.

Speaking on Monday, Sinkevičius stated that the coalition agreement document has been finalised. The Democrats initially sought four ministries but settled for three after negotiations.

“That was the subject of the talks. Of course, we didn’t want to give up any ministry; we wanted them to accept two. We calculated how many they should get. They even demanded four at one point, but we agreed on three,” Sinkevičius said.

It remains unclear who will lead the allocated ministries, though unofficial reports previously suggested Kęstutis Mažeika for Agriculture, Lukas Savickas for Energy, and Linas Kukuraitis for Health. “I think they will decide themselves what to propose,” the Social Democratic leader added.

Regarding Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė and whether she will return as Minister of Social Security and Labour, Sinkevičius said the decision is still pending. He also noted that some Social Democratic ministers may be replaced, though no specific names were mentioned.

“There will be more changes. As for my decision, I told the negotiating group today that I will announce it tomorrow,” he said.

Sinkevičius described the process as dynamic, with consultations ongoing with the president and evaluations of ministers’ performance. The coalition agreement is expected to be signed on Thursday.
