Lithuania signs nearly €1 billion deal for military all-terrain vehicles and trucks

Lithuania has signed a contract worth approximately €1 billion to procure military all-terrain vehicles and heavy-duty trucks, the country’s Ministry of National Defence announced on Tuesday.

The agreement with Veho Lietuva, representing Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Daimler AG, was finalised by the Defence Resource Agency. The purchase includes MB G-Class military all-terrain vehicles, MB Unimog, MB Zetros, and MB Arocs trucks, designed to strengthen the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ logistics capabilities.

Funding for the project is partially provided by the EU’s SAFE programme, with deliveries scheduled between 2026 and 2032. The ministry stated that the new equipment will enhance the operational readiness of Lithuania’s First Division during peacetime, crises, and wartime.

According to officials, the manufacturer was selected to ensure compatibility with existing military transport, reduce operational and training costs, and optimise maintenance efficiency. The acquisition is described as one of the largest investments in Lithuania’s military logistics to date.

Earlier reports indicated plans to fully develop Lithuania’s infantry division by 2030.
