Five detained in Alytus on suspicion of drug distribution to minors
Lithuanian police in Alytus have detained five individuals suspected of distributing narcotics to minors and other drug-related offences, LRT reported Thursday.
On Wednesday evening, officers stopped a BMW on Statybininkų Street carrying two young men, aged 17 and 19. A search of the vehicle uncovered packages containing a crystalline substance suspected to be a psychotropic drug, as well as cannabis.
A subsequent search of a nearby apartment belonging to a 36-year-old man—previously convicted for theft, public order violations, and grievous bodily harm—yielded 40 sealed plastic bags containing approximately 150 grams of the same crystalline substance, along with three digital scales.
Later the same day, police stopped a second BMW driven by a 32-year-old woman found in possession of suspected cannabis. A loaded firearm was also discovered in the vehicle. A 19-year-old Alytus resident was later detained in connection with the investigation.
All five face charges of drug distribution to minors, unlawful possession of narcotics without intent to distribute, and illegal possession of ammunition.
