Defendant injures police officer during court hearing in Kaunas
A man appearing in a court hearing in Kaunas violently resisted and injured a police officer on Wednesday, the Lithuanian Police Department reported.
The incident occurred around 2:20 p.m. in the Kaunas District Court building on Laisvės Avenue. The 35-year-old defendant, born in 1991, allegedly became aggressive during the session, actively resisting and assaulting a 53-year-old officer from the Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat.
The injured officer received medical assistance at the scene and is undergoing outpatient treatment. Authorities have launched a pre-trial investigation for disturbing public order.
