Lithuania’s coastal and western regions under thunderstorm warning
The Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service (LHMT) has issued a yellow-level warning for dangerous weather in western Lithuania and coastal areas, with thunderstorms and strong wind gusts expected from Tuesday afternoon, LRT.lt reports.
Residents in Klaipėda, Telšiai, Tauragė, and Marijampolė districts are advised to prepare for potential damage to unsecured property. The warning, initially in effect from 12:00 to 20:00 local time, urges caution near the sea and recommends securing loose items. Ports may restrict vessel loading and movement during the storm.
Safety guidelines include staying indoors during lightning, unplugging electrical devices, avoiding open areas, lone trees, and metal structures, and remaining in a closed vehicle if caught outside. Power outages are possible.
Warmer summer weather is forecast for the coming days, with daytime temperatures reaching 25–27°C. Wednesday will bring clear skies and highs of 22–27°C, while Thursday may see scattered showers in southwestern regions, with temperatures around 20–25°C.
