Three Latvian climbers die in fall on North America’s Mount McKinley

Three Latvian mountaineers have died after falling from Mount McKinley, North America’s highest peak, the Latvian Alpine Association confirmed on Wednesday, LRT reports.
The victims were identified as Inese Puceka, Vija Olte and Renars Kunigs-Salakas. A fourth climber, Martins Bilzenas, was evacuated in critical condition. The remaining expedition members—Valdis Purins, Edgaras Madzulis and Guntis Svarins—returned to base camp after the accident and are now descending with the help of rescuers.
According to the US National Park Service, the fatal fall occurred near McKinley Pass at an altitude of approximately 5,500 metres.
