Lithuanian prime minister takes one-day leave on birthday, deputy Kondratovičius steps in

Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė took a single day of leave on Monday after celebrating her birthday over the weekend, with Interior Minister Vladislavas Kondratovičius temporarily assuming her duties, state news agency BNS reported.

A spokesperson for the prime minister confirmed that Ruginienė had planned the leave in advance and travelled abroad briefly. She is set to return to work on Tuesday. According to a presidential decree, her leave covers only May 25.

Ruginienė, born on May 24, 1981, in Trakai, marked her 45th birthday on Sunday.
