The Lithuanian military announced Thursday that search operations are ongoing for a suspected drone detected in the country’s airspace, state broadcaster LRT reports.

Search efforts—led by military police and the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union—are concentrated in the Panevėžys and Utena regions. Authorities are gathering witness reports, deploying unmanned aerial vehicles, and using light aircraft from the Riflemen’s Union for reconnaissance.

Residents are urged to report any suspicious objects or debris to emergency services on 112 and to avoid touching or moving them. The military has also asked the public not to photograph or share details of any findings on social media, emphasising that official updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

The operation follows a Wednesday air threat alert in Utena County after radar detected an object with drone characteristics. The National Crisis Management Centre later reported a second potential drone, though both signals disappeared near Utena. Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas confirmed radar had tracked two drone-like signatures before they vanished.
