Lithuania signs €17 million deal for Carl-Gustaf recoilless rifles and defence industry cooperation
Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence has purchased Carl-Gustaf M4 84 mm recoilless rifles and signed a €17 million industrial cooperation agreement with Swedish manufacturer Saab Dynamics AB, the ministry announced on Wednesday.
The Defence Resource Agency finalised the contract, which includes the acquisition of the weapon systems, spare components, training equipment, and small-calibre adapters for practice ammunition. Deliveries are expected to begin later this year.
Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas stated that the partnership will strengthen national capabilities in ammunition storage, logistics, engineering, and security technologies while boosting Lithuania’s defence industry growth.
The deal is part of a broader 10-year framework agreement between Lithuania and Saab Dynamics AB, with a potential total value—including optional additions—of approximately €58 million. The contract covers Carl-Gustaf M4 systems, training adapters, and outdoor simulator solutions.
