Brazen theft in Vilnius district sees textiles worth €466,000 stolen from truck trailer

Lithuanian police are investigating a large-scale theft in Vilnius district after textiles valued at over €466,000 were stolen from a truck trailer, LRT.lt reports.

The incident occurred on May 19 around 7 a.m. in Medininkai, a town in Vilnius district. According to the Police Department’s incident report, thieves cut the trailer’s tarp straps and made off with the cargo. The theft was reported to Vilnius County Police Headquarters at approximately 11 a.m. the same day.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched under Article 178, Part 4 of Lithuania’s Criminal Code, which covers theft on a particularly large scale.

The stolen goods were textile products, with the total reported loss amounting to €466,644.
