Adomas Bužinskas, director of the Vilnius City Municipality Administration, has been formally questioned by law enforcement as part of an ongoing pre-trial investigation, the Delfi news portal reported on Sunday.
A representative of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to Delfi that the questioning took place but declined to comment on its content. “We can confirm that A. Bužinskas was questioned. The details of the questioning are not being disclosed,” spokesperson Gintarė Vitkauskaitė-Šatkauskienė stated.
The investigation follows searches conducted at Bužinskas’s home, office, and vehicle several weeks ago, which he publicly acknowledged in a Facebook post. Police had previously confirmed the searches were carried out as part of a pre-trial probe under two articles of Lithuania’s Criminal Code: Article 228 (abuse of office) and Article 229 (failure to perform official duties).
On April 10, investigators formally decided to question Bužinskas as a witness who could provide testimony regarding his own potential criminal actions, according to police statements.
