The Lithuanian parliament will host the first-ever “Most Family-Friendly Municipality” awards on Friday, recognising local governments for their contributions to improving family welfare, LRT reports.

The initiative, supported by Social Security and Labour Minister Jūratė Zailskienė, will honour municipalities that have implemented significant projects and funding to create a supportive environment for families. Nearly 50 local administrations submitted applications for the awards.

Ten categories will be recognised, including affordable housing, family-friendly public spaces, cultural initiatives, community engagement, education, healthcare, and direct support for families. The ceremony coincides with International Family Day and Children’s Day.
