Fraudsters trick elderly woman out of €100,000 in Elektrėnai

Scammers posing as police officers defrauded an elderly woman of approximately €100,000 over four months in the Lithuanian town of Elektrėnai, the LRT news site reports, citing local police.

According to the Police Department, the 76-year-old victim received calls from unknown individuals between February and May this year. The fraudsters, claiming to be law enforcement officers, manipulated her into transferring the substantial sum. Authorities have launched a pre-trial investigation into the scam.

The woman, born in 1950, was targeted in her home in Elektrėnai. Police have not disclosed further details about the methods used or whether any suspects have been identified.
