Lithuanian military helicopter to conduct training exercise in Kaunas, traffic restrictions in place

A Lithuanian military helicopter will perform a training landing in Kaunas on Wednesday, temporarily restricting traffic near a major hospital, the Lithuanian Armed Forces announced.

Between 12:00 and 14:00 local time, movement will be limited for 10–15 minutes at the intersection of Baltų Avenue, Josvainių Street, and Baltijos Street to allow the helicopter to land at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) Kaunas Clinics, according to a statement.

The exercise is part of the “Iron Wolf 2026” drills, organised by the Iron Wolf Mechanised Infantry Brigade, simulating the evacuation of injured personnel. The ongoing field tactics training—held at the Gaižiūnai training ground and surrounding areas of Kaunas, Kaišiadorys, Elektrėnai, and Jonava—involves over 2,500 troops and more than 300 units of military equipment.

The Lithuanian Air Force’s helicopters are supporting the drills, which also test domestically developed defence products, including unmanned aerial systems and counter-drone measures.

The “Iron Wolf 2026” exercises aim to evaluate and improve units’ readiness to execute national defence plans.
