Maldeikis to explain statements to TS-LKD oversight committee on Tuesday

The Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD) Oversight Committee will meet on Tuesday to determine whether conservative MP Matas Maldeikis violated party statutes with his public statements about its political direction, Delfi reports.

The party’s Kaunas branch filed the complaint, its chairman Jonas Gudauskas confirmed to the portal. The committee will review remarks Maldeikis made in an April interview with Delfi, in which he criticised party leader Laurynas Kasčiūnas and questioned whether he clearly defines the party’s goals and vision.

Kasčiūnas was elected TS-LKD chairman in early February and will lead the party until 2029. His predecessor, Gabrielius Landsbergis, stepped down as party leader following unsuccessful parliamentary elections.
