Kauno apygardos teismo vadovas siūlomas į Lietuvos Aukščiausiojo Teismo teisėjus
The head of Kaunas Regional Court, Marius Bartninkas, has been proposed for appointment as a judge of Lithuania’s Supreme Court (LAT), LRT reports.
On Thursday, the Judicial Council voted 13–0 in an extraordinary session to recommend Bartninkas for the cassation court position. The council has advised the president to submit the nomination to the Seimas (parliament) for approval.
Bartninkas, whose term as Kaunas Regional Court president expires in December, has served in Lithuania’s judicial system for over 18 years. He is a member of both the Lithuanian Judges’ Association and the Judicial Council.
He began his judicial career in 2013 at Kaunas District Court, the same year he became a lecturer at Vytautas Magnus University. In 2016, he moved to Kėdainiai District Court, later becoming its president. In July 2017, then-President Dalia Grybauskaitė appointed him to Kaunas Regional Court.
