The Lithuanian parliament on Thursday swore in Aleksandras Radčenka as the new Seimas controller, following his appointment last month, LRT reports.

Radčenka was officially named to the post on April 23, after Speaker Juozas Olekas registered the procedural order proposing his candidacy in early April. He replaces Nerija Stasiulienė, whose nomination was rejected by lawmakers in December, sparking criticism of Olekas and a no-confidence motion against his speakership.

Most recently, Radčenka served as an advisor to Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė. He previously held the same role under former Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas and, before that, worked in the advisory teams of Seimas Speaker Viktorija Čmilyte-Nielsen and President Gitanas Nausėda.

A lawyer by training, Radčenka joins the Office of the Seimas Controller, which currently investigates misconduct by state institution officials under Erika Leonaitė and municipal corruption complaints under Jolita Miliuvienė.
