Lithuania has not recorded any drone incursions into its airspace, defence minister Robertas Kaunas told public broadcaster LRT on Thursday, following reports of multiple drones entering Latvian airspace from Russia.

Kaunas confirmed that NATO air policing assets were deployed in response to the Latvian incident. “We have been informed by our Latvian colleagues, and NATO fighter jets carried out their mission, taking off from Šiauliai airbase to patrol Latvian airspace before returning around 6 a.m.,” he said.

The minister described recent drone violations in Latvia, Estonia, and Finland as “consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine.” He added that he receives daily briefings confirming no such incidents have occurred in Lithuanian airspace.
