Lithuanian soldier assaults woman with fist in Kaunas while intoxicated

A Lithuanian soldier has been detained in Kaunas after assaulting a woman while intoxicated, police reported on Saturday.

According to the Police Department, the off-duty soldier, born in 2006 and not in uniform, struck a woman in the face during a confrontation on Adomo Mickevičiaus Street at around 4:20 AM. The soldier, who was unfit for duty with a blood alcohol level of 2.27‰, was arrested following the incident.

The victim, born in 2005, was taken to hospital with facial injuries. Authorities have launched a pre-trial investigation into charges of causing physical pain or minor bodily harm.
