Lithuania selects new heads for two Justice Ministry agencies
The Lithuanian Justice Ministry has chosen new leaders for two of its subordinate agencies, naming Daiva Matusevičė as director of the Lithuanian Court Expertise Centre (LTEC) and Milena Gečis as head of the State-Guaranteed Legal Aid Service, the ministry announced on Thursday.
Matusevičė, a specialist in law and architecture, holds both academic and practical qualifications. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University before completing integrated legal studies at Vilnius University. In 2019, she defended her doctoral dissertation in law. Her professional experience spans over two decades in law, architecture, and public administration. Currently a practicing attorney, she is also the founder and lecturer of the public institution Archlegis and previously served as deputy minister of environment, taught at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, and worked as a court expert. Her appointment as LTEC director remains subject to mandatory background checks and administrative procedures.
Gečis brings over a decade of experience in public and private sectors, specialising in law and public governance. She holds a master’s degree in law from Vilnius University. Her career began in legal practice before transitioning to roles in public administration and business, where she gained expertise in legal application, process management, and organisational efficiency.
