Warmer spring weather expected in Lithuania from Friday

Lithuania will see a shift to warmer spring temperatures starting Friday as a strengthening anticyclone moves in, the country’s Hydrometeorological Service announced on Sunday.

Cold and variable weather will persist through midweek, with overnight frosts in many areas, according to forecaster Teresė Kaunienė. Nighttime lows will range from -6°C to +4°C, with the coldest readings inland and milder conditions near the coast.

Monday will bring scattered showers and strong northwesterly winds of 9–14 m/s, gusting up to 17 m/s in places. Daytime highs will reach 6–11°C. Similar conditions are expected Tuesday and Wednesday, with patchy rain, brisk winds, and temperatures climbing to 7–12°C by Wednesday afternoon.

The forecast improves sharply on Friday, when the anticyclone brings dry, sunny weather and a significant warm-up. Daytime temperatures will jump to 12–17°C, with coastal areas near 10°C. Overnight lows will remain just above freezing, though ground frost remains possible.

The weekend will see continued sunshine and calm winds, with highs of 14–19°C and even warmer readings in some areas by Sunday.
