Frost expected at night with weekend rain and strengthening winds
Lithuania’s Hydrometeorological Service has warned of biting overnight frosts and worsening weather conditions over the weekend, with rain and strong winds forecast, LRT reports.
Temperatures will reach 9–14°C on Thursday, though the Curonian Spit will remain several degrees cooler. Winds of 9–14 m/s are expected nationwide, with gusts up to 17 m/s in eastern regions. Skies will be partly cloudy, with the heaviest cloud cover in the east, but no rain is anticipated.
On Friday, scattered light rain is possible overnight, with more widespread showers expected during the day. Nighttime temperatures will drop to 0–5°C, with ground frost reaching –6°C in places. Daytime highs will range from 8–13°C.
The weekend will bring heavier rainfall, occasionally mixed with sleet, and persistent frosts at night. Winds will strengthen to 15–20 m/s in many areas. Saturday’s highs will peak at 14°C, while Sunday will see cooler conditions, with temperatures reaching only 9°C.
